  1. Be Educated:
    Congress: www.house.gov and www.senate.gov
    Congressional legislation, addresses and telephone of all Members, committee assignments, bill information, roll call votes: http://clerk.house.gov 
    Detail and summaries of all bills: Library of Congress, www.thomas.loc.gov 
    Texas legislation: www.capitol.state.tx.us 
     
  2. Express your opinion by mail, by telephone, by email or by attending meetings.
     
  3. Be Responsible: Know how the House and Senate Members vote and hold them accountable:
    House Members: http://clerk.house.gov, click on “Roll”
    Senate Members: www.senate.gov, click on “Record Votes”
    Texas: www.capitol.state.tx.us, click on “Vote Information.” Currently Texas does not require many recorded votes.
     
  4. Know your current elected official:
    Texas Legislature Online: www.capitol.state.tx.us; at the “Who represents Me?” section enter your address.
    If you live in a split district go to www.house.gov and enter your 5 digit zip code plus 4 digits at the “Find Your Representative” search box. Your last 4 digits can be found at www.usps.gov.
    Meet your elected officials at senatorial and state conventions, at campaign events and at group or club meetings.
